State Of The River Event Series Continues In Glenwood Springs

Event will highlight hydrology, forecasts for river runoff, local water projects, and funding opportunities.

Glenwood Springs, Colorado  On Tuesday, May 3, the Colorado River District and partners at the Middle Colorado Watershed Council will host the Middle Colorado State of the River meeting at Morgridge Commons in Glenwood Springs.

The free, public event is the sixth in a series of twelve State of the River events hosted by the River District this spring. Over 450 people across the West Slope have already attended similar events in Ouray, Moffat, Routt, Mesa, and Rio Blanco counties.

“The turnout we’ve seen at our State of the River events thus far is inspiring,” said Colorado River District Director of Public Relations, Marielle Cowdin. “Though each county and river basin within our District has unique qualities and issues, these gatherings show our greater West Slope community coming together to face the local and regional water challenges of our time.”

Glenwood Springs attendees on May 3 will be welcomed with a light dinner and networking session, followed by a robust program covering Colorado River hydrology, Ruedi Reservoir operations, local agriculture and soil health, endangered fish recovery, wildfire recovery and resilience, multi-benefit water projects, and funding opportunities. A detailed agenda for the Middle Colorado State of the River can be found here.

Participation is free, but space and food are limited, so advanced registration is highly recommended. Please visit coloradoriverdistrict.org to learn more about this and other upcoming State of the River Meetings.
