Western Slope Shows Up for 2025 State of the River Meetings

The 2025 State of the River meetings event series welcomed 1,079 individuals to 11 separate events throughout West Slope communities, setting a high-water mark for attendance and engagement at these popular local events.

From Craig to Carbondale, Meeker to Montrose, Western Slope residents once again demonstrated their deep interest in the future of the Colorado River and their commitment to local water issues.

Each meeting brought together River District staff, expert panelists, and community members to share the latest updates on river conditions, regional water projects, snowpack and runoff forecasts, and the high-stakes negotiations surrounding the future of the Colorado River Basin. Just as important, these events offered space for dialogue, local concerns, and solutions tailored to the needs of each local river basin.

State and local agency staff, nonprofit partners, water managers, and technical experts joined River District staff at each stop to share valuable insights.

By welcoming community members and engaged stakeholders alike, these meetings are a strong example of how the River District works to remain connected with constituents and local organizations.

We are so grateful for the support from our partner organizations, the expertise of our presenters, and the willingness of all attendees to learn more and engage with these critical issues related to our shared water future.
