A Seat at the Table: Denver

The River District maintains a close, working relationship with elected representatives across our District and at the state level.

We have a regular presence in the Denver Capitol building to help guide policy decisions and monitor proposed bills during the state legislative session. Bills with content that could affect west slope water interests are brought to the Board of Directors to vote to support, amend, or oppose. During the legislative session, a list of these bills is available here .

Colorado River District staff members including the Director of Government Relations, General Manager, and legal counsel frequently provide expert testimony in relevant hearings. The River District also utilizes its technical staff’s expertise to develop comprehensive studies and reports to better inform policy makers when information is needed to provide context for their decisions.
