Who We Are

The Colorado River District is a 15-county special district in Western Colorado. Our mission is to lead in the protection, conservation, use, and development of the water resources of the Colorado River basin for the welfare of the District, and to safeguard for Colorado all waters of the Colorado River to which the state is entitled. Each staff member at the District contributes to this mission, serving constituents across Western Colorado.

Geotechnical and Dam Safety Engineer

The Geotechnical and Dam Safety Engineer performs technical, project management, advocacy, and engineering work. This position includes analyzing, interpreting, and managing dam embankment instrumentation data and ensuring the integrity and safety of dam structures through diligent monitoring and technical studies. The role involves project management responsibilities, coordinating with consultants and contractors to complete dam, reservoir, recreation area, and mitigation area-related projects.

Hiring Salary Range: $80,000 – $123,000

Director of Public Relations

The Director of Public Relations keeps the public informed of the Colorado River District’s (CRD) activities, positions and policies. This position is responsible for developing and implementing long term and short term District wide communications plan, outreach and education programs with public, private groups and state agencies through public speaking and the use of various media on water, water-related and other activities related to the organization. The Director of Public Relations will also implement and oversee District social media content and campaigns.

Hiring Salary Range: $120,000 – $160,000
