Kokanee salmon giveaway at Wolford Mountain Reservoir starts Oct. 19
Kremmling, CO — Colorado Parks and Wildlife will be harvesting eggs from kokanee salmon at Wolford Mountain Reservoir on Oct 15 and 16. Public access, including fishing, is prohibited within 150 feet of any kokanee spawning trap or wing net from October 1 to December 1
Because kokanee salmon die after spawning, the agency will conduct a kokanee giveaway. The giveaway will begin on October 19. It will continue on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until CPW reaches its egg quota or until the weather forces the program to end.
To be eligible for the giveaway anglers must possess a current Colorado fishing license and either an annual pass or $10 day-use pass for the Wolford Mountain Reservoir day-use area.
